Special thanks to Teacher Lin for coming from Chia-Yi to share. This is a very brilliant speech, and this Southeast Asia salon event has as many as 26 people participating, which can be said to be an unprecedented event.
The theme this time is Indonesia. Teacher Lin started from the background of Indonesia, introducing historical development, political and economic evolution before and after independence, successive presidents, corruption, and money politics. Then began to enter the part of Taiwanese/Chinese businessmen.
The Chinese who went to Indonesia can be traced back to the Song Dynasty. They were mainly engaged in business. After hundreds of years of evolution, they formed the current Indonesian Chinese. Throughout the development process, the anti-China movement in Indonesia has attracted the most attention from the outside world, and it has caused many Chinese people unbearable pain. Since the 1990s, Indonesia has gradually resumed bilateral relations with Beijing and Taipei. The southbound policy of the Lee Teng-hui (李登輝) period has made Taiwan the second largest source of foreign investment in Indonesia. Currently, there are about 20,000 Taiwanese/Chinese businessmen overseas in Indonesia.
In addition, the political participation of Chinese is a very important research topic at present. The proportion of Chinese running for elections is not low, but the elected rate is low, which is worthy of attention. In recent years, the Chinese politician who has received the most attention is Zhong Wan-Xue (鍾萬學). Recently, he has been attacked because of religious factors. It is regrettable that he lost the final election for the governor of Jakarta. Of course, the political participation of Chinese in Indonesia in the future is still worth looking forward to!
For such a wonderful speech, I believe that the audience present will benefit a lot, and this event will also be combined with the pre-departure briefing session of the "Taiwanese Enterprises Study Group in Jakarta, Indonesia", which will also allow the members of the group to learn more about the Indonesia can have more understanding and impression. In the end, this activity combined with the results presentation of the "Taiwanese Businessmen's Study Group in Bangkok, Thailand", invited the guests present to watch the video of the event together, and invited the group members to share their experiences on stage. Finally, a scholarship of $5,000NT was awarded to the students from the association, and the top three experience report rewards.
