It is a pleasure to invite Professor Zhuo from the Department of Applied Chinese Language of Wenzao University of Foreign Languages to introduce us to Malaysia's language and culture, as well as its political and economic situation. Professor Zhuo, a Malaysian, taught us some simple Malay, and let everyone learn to sing the Malay version of the happy birthday song: "Selamat hari Jadi".
From the introduction of Malaysia as a multi-ethnic country to the differences between classical and modern architecture, as well as unique natural landscapes, symbolic representations, and tourism industries, Professor Zhuo opens up listeners' curiosity and understanding of Malaysia.
In his speech, Professor Zhuo also mentioned news events that have taken Malaysia on the international page in recent years, including the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in 2014, the assassination of Kim Jong-nam in Malaysia in 2017, and the political storm caused by his prime minister's involvement in corruption. Finally, I talked about the strategy launched by mainland China in Malaysia to affect the situation in Southeast Asia and the challenges and difficulties that Taiwan will face in promoting the new southbound policy.
Professor Zhuo's lively and humorous sharing impressed everyone. During the discussion after the meeting, everyone enthusiastically shared their views on Malaysian culture, industry, and living habits. Mr. Zhuo even made an appointment with us to taste the authentic food - Satay.
